Congo DR (0) VS Egypt (1) Offline

12:24 Full Time - The referee blows the final whistle as the Egyptian players bow in prayer. The Pharaohs started the day in third place in Group 12 and are now in 1st after this win.

12:22 90' + 2' - The referee apparently signaled 3 minutes of stoppage time. We're nearing the third and final one. Mido with a strong effort, high and wide.

12:20 90' - Amr Zaki with another spectacular effort. An outstanding save by the Congo DR keeper and it's out for a corner.

12:20 90' - Congo DR are desperate. Egypt seem calm enough for the task.

12:17 88' - Egypt have sent everybody back to defend this precious away lead.

12:15 86' - Mido comes on to replace Abou Treika for Egypt.

12:14 84' - Unbelievable. A beautiful turn by Mputu. He sends the ball across and it's met with a one-time shot off the crossbar. Mido is warming up near the Egypt bench.

12:13 83' - Essam El-Hadary earns a yellow card. No clue why.

12:12 82' - Things are getting a little messy at the back for Egypt, but they've somehow held their shape and cleared another dangerous ball out of harm's way.

12:10 80' - Possibly Congo DR's most dangerous effort yet. An unmarked Mputu heads just wide from close range.

12:09 79' - A nice cross for Congo DR is met with a poor header on goal.

12:08 78' - Congo DR make their third and final change, Shibani Nonda exits; Mbala takes his place.

12:06 75' - A dangerous effort from 15 yards for Congo DR, but its right to Hadary.

12:03 73' - Another golden chance missed by the Pharaohs. Amr Zaki had just the keeper to beat, albeit from a difficult angle, and he pushes the shot wide towards the far post.

12:02 72' - Hosny Abd Rabbo appears to be hurt after a stern challenge from his Zairian counterpart.

12:00 70' - Egypt with a golden opportunity to double its lead, but Ahmed Hassan shoots wide on a one-on-one with the Congo DR defender.

11:59 69' - Hosny Abd Rabbo, the 'Best Player' at the 2008 African Cup of Nations wins a free kick for Egypt. The ensuing shot from Zaki is poor. A Congo DR player (Malimba?) is booked for delaying his 10-yard retreat before the free kick.

11:57 68' - Egypt keeping possession well now, but Congo DR still has a lot of space to work with in attack.

11:56 66' - Congo DR with a free kick near the corner flag. It's a poor cross and sails out for a goal kick.

11:53 63' - A hard push in the back by a Congo DR player wins Egypt a foul and angers Egypt's El-Mohammadi in the process.

11:51 61' - Substitution for Egypt. Midfielder Mohammed Hommos replaces striker Emad Meteb. This puts Egypt in a 3-6-1 formation.

11:50 60' - Congo DR almost score but the empty net was tended to quickly by El-Hadary.

11:47 57' - Both teams understand the importance of this one. You can cut the proverbial tension with a knife.

11:45 54' - Right midfielder El-Mohammadi with a good effort on goal but it's just wide. The theme of this match since the Egypt goal is Congo crosses and long-range shots mixed with organized Egyptian counters.

11:40 50' - Amr Zaki blasts a one-time volley off the woodwork.

11:38 48' - Egypt leaving much too much open space along the wings, as Congo earn their second corner kick in a row. Danger is finally cleared.

11:35 45' - Quick run towards goal ends in a goal kick to Egypt.

11:34 Martyrs Stadium still packed to the rim as we get set to kick-off the second half.

11:18 Halftime in Kinshasa. A massive lead for Egypt. Can they preserve it, or can the home team overturn the deficit as it did the last time these two met?

11:17 45' + 3' - Congo DR with yet another long-range effort. This one sails high and wide.

11:16 45' + 2' - Congo DR continue to push forward. The Egyptians don't want to take any more risks before halftime.

11:13 45' - Dangerous low cross across the six-yard box is pounced on by El-Hadary. Egypt's defense is far from solid.

11:12 43' - Play resumes as Congo DR is forced into their second substitution bringing in their reserve keeper. Lest we forget that Congo DR had the lead on Egypt in the first half in Cairo. Plenty of time to go.

11:09 The Congo DR keeper is still down and play has yet to resume.

11:06 37' - The Congo DR keeper is hurt after a collision with his defender and Emad Meteb, and is being tended to.

11:05 35' - Broadcast is back again, who knows for how long. Congo DR are on the attack. Essam El-Hadary the Egypt keeper comes out to grab a corner kick.

11:04 Broadcast has again been interrupted. Word is Amr Zaki has received a yellow card for dissent. Egypt defender Mahmoud Fathallah is on the ground receiving treatment.

11:02 30' - Wigan Athletic's new start Amr Zaki set the goal up with a tricky pass from the top of the box that just beat the offside trap.

11:00 30' GOAL Egypt! Mohammed Abou Treika with a marvelous strike to the keeper's right to give Egypt a very helpful lead in one of Africa's most intimidating venues.

10:56 28' - Emad Meteb with a shot on goal from the counter attack. The Congo DR keeper scoops it up without trouble.

10:55 27' - Choppy retransmission has resumed. We're still scorless and it seems Congo DR has taken better control of midfield and Egypt are now the countering side.

10:54 Still waiting on transmission to resume. It's a shame how difficult watching such important matches can be in the 21st century.

10:48 The broadcast has been interrupted again.

10:45 17' - Zaki is back in the match for Egypt. The match appears to have gotten sloppier, and Congo Dr has taken greater control in the midfield.

10:42 16' - I've gotten word that Egypt striker Amr Zaki had to be helped off the pitch and has not yet returned.

10:41 And the feared technical problems have arrived. Transmission has been interrupted. Stand by.

10:38 10' - Already a substitution for Congo DR. LuaLua tried to go but simply couldn't. He's replaced by number 8 (Mputu?).

10:37 8' - Egypt are in control of possession early, but Congo DR don't seem to mind sitting back and settling for their lightning-quick counter-attacks.

10:35 6' - The Zairians send a cross into the box, but nobody is there to meet it.

10:34 5' - Dealing with a very poor quality broadcast of the match, but it's better than nothing.
